Plant Register

ADOSH-SF CoP 53.0 (OSH Construction Management Plan) requires that a plant register is maintained on every construction site. The plant register must list all plant and equipment on site, including the type, make, model, serial number, date of last inspection, date of next inspection, and the name of the responsible person. The plant register must be available for inspection by the authority at all times.

Inspection Documentation

All plant inspection records must be maintained on site and available for inspection. ADOSH-SF CoP 36.0 requires that inspection records are kept for a minimum of 2 years. For lifting equipment, ADOSH-SF CoP 34.0 requires that thorough examination certificates are kept for the life of the equipment. Defect reports and repair records must also be maintained.

Colour Coding System

Many UAE construction sites use a quarterly colour coding system for plant and equipment inspection. Each quarter is assigned a colour (typically red, yellow, blue, green) and inspected plant is tagged with the current quarter's colour. This provides a quick visual indication of whether plant has been inspected in the current period. While not a specific ADOSH-SF requirement, this system is widely used and accepted by UAE authorities.

The colour coding system is a site management tool and does not replace the formal inspection documentation requirements of ADOSH-SF CoP 36.0 and CoP 34.0. All plant must have both a current colour tag AND documented inspection records.
