Monday Morning: Your UAE HSE Week Ahead

Monday morning sets the tone for the whole construction week. Before boots hit the ground, take fifteen minutes to align your team on the risks, permits, and inspections that matter most across UAE sites this week.

1. Review the weekend's incidents and near-misses

Weekend crews and night shifts often surface hazards the weekday team never sees. Pull the incident log, walk through any near-misses, and confirm corrective actions were closed — not just recorded.

2. Confirm this week's high-risk permits

  • Hot work permits — verify fire watch and extinguisher coverage
  • Confined space entries — check gas testing schedules and rescue plans
  • Working at heights — inspect anchor points, harnesses, and edge protection
  • SIMOPS — reconfirm conflict windows with adjacent contractors

3. Check authority deadlines

ADOSH-SF (formerly OSHAD), MOHRE midday break rules, Dubai Municipality, and Civil Defence all have rolling submissions. Open the Authority Submissions tracker and confirm nothing is due this week that hasn't been drafted.

4. Heat stress and weather watch

Even outside the official midday break window (15 June – 15 September), heat index and humidity can trigger stand-downs. Review the 5-day forecast for each active site and pre-schedule hydration rotations if temperatures climb.

5. Toolbox talk theme

Pick one theme for the week and brief every supervisor on Monday. Consistency across shifts and trades is what turns a talk into behaviour change.

Close-out checklist

  • Weekend incidents reviewed and actions verified
  • High-risk permits confirmed with valid gas tests, watches, and rescue plans
  • Authority submissions and NOCs tracked and drafted
  • Heat-stress rotations scheduled where needed
  • Weekly toolbox theme communicated to all supervisors

Close these five items before lunch and you'll spend the rest of the week leading, not chasing.
