Rooms & Accommodation

Bedroom space allocations, occupancy limits, bed specifications, furnishings, and prohibited activities within sleeping quarters.

Space and Occupancy Standards

The design and occupancy of bedrooms are heavily scrutinised during authority inspections. Each worker must be allocated a minimum of 3 square metres of personal sleeping space. The maximum occupancy per bedroom is 8 to 10 persons, subject to maintaining the per-person space requirement. Bedroom ceiling height must be no less than 7 feet.

Furnishings and Personal Storage

Each worker must be individually provided with a bed, a side table, and a lockable wardrobe measuring 2 metres in height. Bunk beds must maintain a minimum spacing of 36 inches from all sides (48 inches for bunk beds). Secure personal lockers must be provided to protect workers' belongings from loss or damage. Shoe racks must be placed at the entrance of each room so workers keep footwear outside the sleeping area.
