1. When Re-Induction Is Required
Any worker absent for more than 14 consecutive days (leave, sickness, injury, project transfer, or role change) must complete a re-induction BEFORE returning to work. Same rule for workers returning after a serious incident or medical clearance.
2. Fitness for Work
Occupational-health screening: current fitness-to-work certificate, review of any restrictions, heat-stress acclimatisation for outdoor roles (minimum 5-day gradual reintroduction). No return-to-work without a signed medical clearance where required.
3. Refreshed Hazards & Site Changes
Walk the current work face and brief the worker on new hazards, layout changes, new subcontractors, and any incidents that occurred during their absence. Update the site map and emergency evacuation route in their handout.
4. Permits, PPE & Authorisations
Re-issue site ID, gate access, and role-based authorisations (permit signatory, banksman, working-at-height, confined-space rescuer). Check PPE fitment (weight/size changes after absence are common). Re-competence any authorisation older than 12 months.
5. Emergency Arrangements
Confirm the worker knows the current muster point, first-aiders, fire wardens and emergency numbers. Update ICE (in case of emergency) contact if changed during absence.
6. UAE Requirements & Records
Federal Decree-Law 33/2021 and ADOSH-SF require documented site inductions and refreshed training after long absence. Log the re-induction in the worker's training record with date, topics, trainer, and signature. Store for audit for the project duration plus retention period.
