1. Delivery Planning
Every delivery starts with a Delivery Management Plan: route from gate to offload point, timing (outside peak), banksman assigned, exclusion zone marked, ground bearing capacity verified. No delivery enters site without pre-approval.
2. Lifting Accessories
Slings, shackles, spreader beams and lifting eyes must be certified by a third party (Trakhees or equivalent), inspected quarterly and colour-coded for the current quarter. Any accessory without a legible tag is quarantined.
3. Telehandler Operations
Operator holds a valid UAE-recognised licence. Pre-use check includes tyres, hydraulics, load chart, seat belt, reversing alarm. Load never exceeds the chart for the boom angle. Loads over 1.5 m are guided by a banksman.
4. Mobile Crane Setup
Ground bearing pressure calculated, outrigger mats sized to the load. Third-party lift plan required for tandem lifts, blind lifts, and loads > 90% of SWL. Wind speed monitored — stop lifting at 32 km/h (or manufacturer limit if lower).
5. Banksman
One banksman per lift, high-vis vest of distinct colour, radio contact with operator, uses BS 7121 hand signals. Only the banksman gives signals except for the emergency STOP, which anyone can give.
6. Pedestrian Segregation
Hard barriers separate walkways from plant zones. Crossings are controlled by banksmen or stop-go signals. Reverse-parking is mandatory for all site vehicles. Reversing without a banksman in a pedestrian area is a Category A violation.
