Which base should I use in the UAE?

  • 200,000 hours — OSHA convention; the most common format for ADOSH-SF (formerly OSHAD) reporting and international benchmarking.
  • 1,000,000 hours — widely used by UAE main contractors and joint ventures when reporting to boards or clients; produces larger-magnitude numbers.
  • Always state your base alongside the rate — a TRIR of 1.5 at 200k is not the same as 1.5 at 1M.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the 200,000 and 1,000,000 man-hour base?

The 200,000-hour base is the OSHA / ADOSH-SF standard used for TRIR and LTIFR. Many UAE main contractors report on a 1,000,000-hour base for LTIFR benchmarking. The calculator lets you toggle between the two without re-entering data.

What counts as a recordable incident?

Any work-related injury or illness resulting in death, days away from work, restricted work, transfer to another job, medical treatment beyond first aid, loss of consciousness, or a significant diagnosed condition. First aid alone is not recordable.

How do I calculate man-hours for the period?

Add the total hours worked by all employees and contractors on site during the reporting period. Include overtime; exclude leave, sickness and public holidays.

Is the calculator data stored anywhere?

No. Every calculation runs in your browser and is discarded when you close the tab. Nothing is sent to our servers.
